Nosara Homeschool Collective
Launching September 2026 | Nosara, Costa Rica
A Homeschool Collective for 7th & 8th Grade
Thoughtful. Relational. Developmentally grounded.
A small, in-person homeschool collective for middle school students in Nosara, designed for families seeking depth, structure, and a human-centered learning environment during the pivotal early adolescent years.

Why This Program
Middle school is a turning point. Students are developing independent thinking, stronger social awareness, and a deeper relationship to learning. This stage asks for experienced guidance, clear structure, and meaningful work.
This homeschool collective exists to offer:
- Strong academics taught with imagination and relevance
- Consistent mentorship and relationship-based teaching
- Space for movement, creativity, service, and responsibility
- A learning environment that honors where students are developmentally
This is an intentional offering for families who value a Waldorf-inspired learning environment for their children.

Educational Approach
The academic core is informed by Waldorf-inspired pedagogy and structured curriculum resources.
Learning emphasizes:
- Integrated humanities, sciences, and math
- Strong writing, research, and critical thinking
- Main lesson blocks taught through story, inquiry, and experience
- Minimal screen use and a focus on human-to-human learning

Learning Beyond Academics
Afternoons and weekly blocks expand learning through hands-on and community-based experiences, including subjects like:
- Visual arts and ceramics
- Circus arts, movement, and team sports
- Ocean awareness and safety
- Gardening, service learning, and mentorship projects
- Student-led initiatives, creative projects, and practical work
There is also flexibility to welcome additional students into select classes or activities during the high season. This allows for greater social opportunities with other students their age.

Leadership & Teaching Team
Lead Teacher & Program Director
Jason Burnstein
Experienced middle school and Waldorf educator with extensive experience teaching 7th and 8th grade students in Waldorf schools both in the United States and Costa Rica.
Additional teachers and specialists will contribute to afternoon programming and subject-specific blocks. Several local educators and artists have already expressed interest in joining the project.
The teaching team will continue to take form based on enrollment and shared alignment. We will aim for balance within the teaching team, including gender balance, particularly among the additional teachers who will work with students across subject areas and throughout the week. We also hope to have several times in the year that a qualified guest teacher comes to work with the students.

Community & Enrollment
This collective is being built with care, clarity, and collaboration.
While the program is not designed to meet every individual preference, it is rooted in a clear vision and structure.
Enrollment will be limited to maintain quality, rhythm, and relationship.
Families who feel aligned are invited to connect early and be part of shaping the community.
An Invitation
This homeschool collective is offered with intention and commitment.
If this vision resonates with your family, we invite you to reach out, ask questions, and explore whether this may be a good fit for your child and for the community we are forming.
